July 21 – Goodbye to Interlaken, Hello to Farm Living

Today we said our goodbye to the Interlaken area of Switzerland but before we left we did one final adventure, St Beatus Caves. Seeing this yesterday we figured it would be a good change from going up mountains or viewing waterfalls. After a very steep uphill walk from the road, we purchased our tickets and went to explore the caves. Being at a temperature of 8-10 degrees it was a bit cold but the views and information in the caves was fantastic.

Finishing up here, we headed the long way to Zurich. Not realizing we had to pre-purchase tickets to the Lindt Chocolate Museum..oops..that was a bit of a bust but still was able to get some chocolates and I got some strawberries with dark chocolate sauce drizzled on top of it. Yum!

Next stop, the Victorinix Store so that Tori could get a personalized pocket knife and we got a veggie peeler…which they thought was funny. Since they were in Zurich in March for a school trip, they enjoyed taking us around to different locations that they remembered from then. Walking around and seeing Ferraris and Lamborghinis just being driven around is crazy to see. Also, we walked down Bahnofstrasse…one of the most expensive shopping streets. Think Gucci, Cartier, etc.

Getting close to dinner time, we found a burger place in Lucerne on the way to our next accommodations. Tonight it was Fat Boy Smash Burger. After getting there we realized there was no dine in option so we took it to go, found a beach and had a picnic. Since I was wearing a skirt, I went to the water and it was so warm and magical having mountains all around.

Since tonight is an AirBNB, we wanted to get here early out of respect for the owners who live on the property. Tonight and tomorrow we will be staying at a Farm! Outside our bedroom window is a bunny, looking out the bathroom window there are lots of cows. Will be fun to hear if there is a rooster tomorrow morning 🙂 There was in Lille!

Tomorrow will be our last planned hike day, the Stoos Ridge Trail. We have to plan this right as if you miss the last lift down you have to walk down the mountain to the car. Fingers crossed that does not happen!
