July 17 – Goodbye Austria and Hello Switzerland

Oops….I am a day late in getting this write up done but better late than never.

Yesterday was a day that we said goodbye to Damüls, Austria and Hotel Lucia. This was an amazing hotel with lots of room for 4 people (including a full kitchen). After a fairly quick packing up of the car….why does this always seem to get harder and harder to do and that we never pack the same way twices?…we headed down to the chair lift that was included in our guest pass for one quick ride up to the top so Patrick and Sable could see what Tori and I did the other day.

This time we headed a bit farther out to look for a lake that we missed the first time. After not going far enough the first time and one more climb up a hill, there it was. Almost a perfect circle with lots of benches all around it with views to kill. We decided not to go back up to the swing area as we had to get on the road to head to Interlaken, Switzerland.

One thing I am not going to miss about Austria…the crazy roads up to the hotel. It went through a holy crap phase to an oh this road again phase back to a holy crap one. Once we got down of the mountain, we were smooth sailing through Liechtenstein and finally we hit Switzerland.

Switzerland views have been the best so far. From the mountains to the valleys to the blue lakes and running rivers. There is never a boring place to look. The only time there was nothing to look at was in one of the many tunnels we drove through. Switzerland is known to put tunnels around or under villages to help with pollution and traffic. We lost count as to how many we went through. There were even interchanges in them!

As we had to get to our camping cabin by 6pm, we headed straight for the campground. Our accommodations this time are definitely smaller and more cramped than we had in Austria but with the bathroom, pool, laundry etc right near our door, we are in a great place. Plus being able to look out and up at some fantastic mountain peaks is an amazing sight.

Other than unpack, do laundry and get food, not a lot was done last night. I (Esther) had to get up early today to go paragliding over Interlaken so it was an early night for me.
